25' X 100' (2500 Sq Ft)
M 62 W Edwardsburg, MI

This Mural was designed and painted exclusively for John Sindelar's Fine Woodworking Shop and his World Famous Antique Tool Collection. John researched old books and catalogs from which the artist Jerry Schlundt developed the full color art.
With his gifted granddaughter Mariah Wall doing full scale pounce patterns from his 3/4" scaled drawings the layout was completed and painting began and continued for 8 weeks during the summer months of 2007. The materials used for this project was acrylic latex by Ronan Paint Co. of Chicago & Sherwin Williams Paint Co. The total cost of this project was $16,000.

Before starting this project, Jerry had just completed 8 weeks of radiation fighting a battle with cancer, so far he is doing fine and has scheduled several more works to be completed next year. One at at the Cass County Maintenance building in Cassopolis, MI and Joe's Surfari Water Park in Watervliet, Michigan.

Cassopolis MuralĀ

Cass County dedicated the new Maintenance Building mural in 2007.
The mural is located at 201 State Street, Cassopolis.

The mural project leader was David Dickey, Superintendent of Maintenance. He researched the history of the Maintenance Building and selected Dowagiac muralist Jerry Schlundt. The Maintenance Building was once a new car dealership. It has been painted with cars, trucks, salespeople and customers. There is even a gas pump painted on the back of the building. The murals are intended to use public art to beautify an otherwise plain building in downtown Cassopolis.

They were supported by the Cass County Economic Development Corporation which seeks projects that attract visitors to the area. Investors in the project include the Midwest Energy Cooperative, Wightman Engineering, Indiana Michigan Power, Leonard Kanczuzewski, John Gore, County Commissioners Bob Wagel, Bill Steele and David Taylor, and an anonymous contributor. The painting began in August 2007 and was completed in early October 2007.
